About Us

The Riverdale Art Center (The RAC) is a nonprofit, educational outreach organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals, families, and communities through art.

Our Mission is to cultivate a supportive environment for art to flourish by encouraging the human spirit to soar through self-expression.

Our model includes: educational art classes and seminars, and therapeutic art outreach to those with special needs.

We believe that the hands-on practice of art encourages a strong sense of well being, and that sharing art can build community. Art allows individuals to live fuller lives, and can help stimulate healing in those with special needs. Now more than ever, with funding cut backs to the arts, communities must find a way to cultivate the arts. Art programs can empower communities. They can stimulate new ways of seeing the world, and provide a means for sharing those visions with others. Founded entirely upon green principles, we are also dedicated to protecting the environment and preserving local history. We are partnering with the nonprofit Riverdale Land Conservancy to help preserve open spaces and historic structures in our community. Local art and local history go hand in hand!
