Helen Astarita

Helen Astarita, Treasurer of the Riverdale Art Center is currently employed by Aul/Reinsurance Management Services and working from home for the last five years as a Reinsurance Accounting Analyst. Prior to the closing of the Wayne office of Aul/RMS, Helen served as Vice President-Controller of their Reinsurance Accounting  Department. She has been employed by Aul/RMS for over 20 years.

Helen grew up in Jersey City and graduated from The College of St. Elizabeth with a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked as a children’s wear buyer for Youth Fashion Guild and Gimbel’s Corporate Buying Office in Manhattan for five years before starting her family.  Helen and her family have resided in Riverdale for the past 35 years. Her husband, Garrett, has served the Riverdale community as a volunteer and President of the Pompton Lakes/ Riverdale First Aid Squad as is currently a Councilman for the Borough of Riverdale for the past 15 years.

Helen has a passion for interior decorating and enjoys Pilates as a means of developing her inner strength. She is devoted to her family and loves spending time with her three grandchildren.

As a volunteer, Helen was elected Treasurer of St. Mary’s Home School Association while her children attended grade school . Volunteering at the Riverdale Art Center since 2009 has been a rewarding experience and provides a means for giving back to the Riverdale community, which has provided her and her family with a serene and safe place to live and develop lifelong friendships.
